Start Your Day Off On The Right Foot

September 25, 2012 By Catherine Burdine

Well, you can start your day off on the left foot too as long as you get moving! Exercising first thing in the morning assures nothing gets in the way of your work out later. We all know how our day can get swept away from us and derail the best intentions, so making morning time your time, is the best way to make sure you get your work out in.

Health Benefits of a Morning Work Out

Working out in the morning burns a higher percentage of fat, especially if you do it before you eat. When you exercise on an empty stomach, your body burns fat as fuel rather than calories from carbohydrates. Working out in the morning also revs up your metabolism for the rest of the day so you burn more calories just by adjusting your work out time!

Starting your day off on a healthy note will also make you more aware of your eating patterns for the rest of the day. Psychologically, if you start your day off correctly, it encourages you to stay healthy. For instance, why ruin a good start to the day with a bacon cheese burger for lunch? You might just reconsider that choice for a healthier choice if you know your already on the right path.

Exercising first thing in the morning also makes sure you get moving throughout the day. If you are expending all your energy throughout the day, you will sleep better at night. Make sure you get to bed early enough so you don’t lose sleeping hours to exercise.  Although it’s good to work out on an empty stomach, please take the time to enjoy your morning cup of coffee if it helps you get moving!

Exercise, even for just 20 to 30 minutes, increases blood blow to the brain which improves your concentration. It’s hard to be sluggish after a good work out!  Start each day off with either the right or left foot and get moving for increased energy, metabolism, and concentration!
